Conway, M.D. Ph.D. is professor of radiology and serves as the section head of musculoskeletal radiology and director of Rutledge Tower, Outpatient and Outreach Radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. In 1973, Dr. Conway received a BS in biophysics from Brown University and entered the University of Chicago where he received a Ph.D. (Genetics) in 1979 and an M.D. in 1981. Following graduation, he completed an internship and part of an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa. Subsequently, Dr. Conway went on to complete a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. In 1987, he went to the Medical College of Virginia as assistant professor of radiology and was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 1991. In 1993, he came to the Medical University of South Carolina and was promoted to his current rank in 1995. Since that time, Dr. Conway has served in varying capacities within the Department of Radiology including: co-director of the residency program, vice-chairman of clinical activities and associate chairman of research. In 2006, he received the department's Golden Apple teaching award. Over the years, Dr. Conway has published over 100 articles, book chapters, and abstracts in such journals as Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology and Skeletal Radiology. He has also served on the editorial boards of Radiology and The Radiologist. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Conway was a member of the executive committee of The Society of Skeletal Radiology and from 1996 to 1998 was its president.
